The Altered Page Disintegration Reveal

I took part in Seth's fantastic Disintegration Collaboration- and really could not figure out what to do with the pieces in my "bundle". I had one idea in sketch form, but it was way too complicated for me to actually do. I am more artsy, than true artist.

So, simple is best, and I simply took the largest part of the bundle, which was a large container lid, and added shards of vintage pottery that have been unearthed as I garden. A large triangular piece of shale in the center completes it.
If you haven't guessed, and I'm sure you haven't(!) this is a very primitive sun dial. Unfortunately, the sun would not oblige while I was taking a picture- but it does really work.

I will set it in the vegetable garden, where most of the pieces originated.

  2. check out marcel duchamp!! another true artist like you! great idea of yours, and giving this back to your garden is perfect! great turquoise paint with text showing through, and more weathering in its future. would love to see it when the SUN shines on it. best to you, with your artist mind!

  4. What luck to have some smaller pieces of shale in the bundle and in the garden. Great use of natural materials.

    I really like the outcome.

  5. What a wonderful Disco project. Love the sundial, and from the picture, if you turn it upside down as in the second picture, it looks like there's a sliver of a moon as well. The colors and contrast of the dark and light are great- this is a wonderful gift to your garden!

  11. The idea of something SO functional really grabbed my interest. Although yours was created for the DisCo project, I'm thinking this is a clever project I might just try. If only I were so lucky to have shards in my yard!! Thank you for the inspiration and congratulations on creating a terrific art piece.
