Every year, at this time, I think.............NEXT year, I will be prepared for May Day!!
This has been going on for years, and I think I may have only been prepared once!!!!
I did leave a surprise basket on someone's doorstep years ago, but never got a Maypole ready for the kids!!!
At least, this year, I posted about it on FB, and wrote this blog post!!!
Here is a link to learn more about the history of May Day.
I hope you all enjoy a wonderful first Sunday in May and dance around the Maypole in your mind, if not in reality!
When we were in Mexico at the first of the year, we saw a maypole type dance. They wove and unwove the ribbons as they danced. I really enjoyed seeing it.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a maypole or dance but one of my Grandfathers always gave my Grandmother and his daughters a little bouquet of hand picked pansies and Johnny Jump Ups . So sweet, I still see it in my mind's eye. Lennie
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great old photo :) it's such a beautiful month and should be celebrated all month long. I have a broom that is decorated and I have let it sit for the past couple of years---maybe this day would be good to redo it :)
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day to you as well.
