ATC Swap

Just a quick look at the almost finished ATC I am making for the online group, In This House and Garden.

It is called Meet the Artist,  created by  Connie. ATC's are definitely not my specialty- but it was fun to do. My fingers are dried out from the Modge Podge!  Tonite I will be scanning this, and then tomorrow getting my fingers full of glue again, as I put it on 20 cards, then add finishing touches.

The rules are to take a photo of yourself (face) and add a body, however you want. Decorate the card- then using white gel pen, decorate the card to finish it off. It's me, in my jeans and T-shirt (daily uniform), surrounded by lady bugs (which infest our house), and a tea cup.

My daughter laughed and said it was sooo me - so, I guess I was somewhat successful!! She is a tough critic!!!

Tea on Tuesday

Some things of interest this cold sunny Tuesday, while I sit here sipping a hot cuppa Lady Grey with lots of honey.

First - if you love pincushions - you have to check out the winners of Piecework Magazine's Pin Cushion Contest - Unbelievable!!! I tried to show a picture here, but for some reason it didn't work.. So just go to this link - and view some fabulous creativity!!!

My favorite, altho it was really hard to choose just one, was the grandmother's purse, - and even the honorable mentions were more than honorable!!! I wouldn't mind having any one of them in my collection!!!

Second, I am having a little giveaway.

I recently purchased Angela Cartwright  and   Sarah Fishburn's Volume 11 of their wonder-full Pasticcio Quartz book.

As I was reading it, I realized, I had already ordered this issue !!  I got swept up in the excitement of thinking a new volume was hot off the presses and without checking, just blindly ordered it!!!

So, my mistake, is someone's gain!!

These little books are a fabulous compilation of everything artsy, from blog artist interviews, to paper dolls, poetry, famous quotes, rubber stamps, art history, and a mind boggling assortment of inspiring art, eye candy, photos, links, and how-to's. Alot of creativity between those covers!

Rules to enter: Spread the word on your blogs, leave a comment  here, with a way to contact you , and become a follower, if you are not already!

A winner will be randomly selected on Friday, March 4th.

As always, we are glad to have you join us for tea every Tuesday - please drop by Patty and Kimmie for a list of other tea lovers!

Pasticcio Quartz

After reading that Seth Apter was written up in the 'zine Pasticcio Quartz, I broke down and ordered a copy. I have been wanting to for some time, but just never got around to it.

The book came in record time - I was out helping DH put siding on the hay barn, when thru the trees, I saw a white FedEx truck coming up the drive. I hot footed it over to the truck - wondering what it could be bringing me!!!

It was a light and tiny box, surprisingly- but for what it lacked in pounds, it definitely made up for it in weighty material!!
This issue 10 is chock full of all sorts of interesting stuff- articles on paper dolls, Bil and Cora Baird puppets (one of my all time favs), rubber stamps, harajuku fashion, New Mexico, Seth Apter (great article!), Kelly Moore, and a pictorial tour of co-author Angela Cartwright's home.

Angela Cartwright, and her unruly partner in art, Sarah Fishburn have put together a wonderful series of  'zines entitled Pasticcio Quartz. These soft cover books- not quite a book, not quite a magazine - cover so much in the altered art mixed media world, and then some - I think everyone could find something of interest within its pages.

I actually could not wait to read it, so, between helping put up galvanized siding- while he hammered, I read- I managed to get thru the book cover to cover. It's now on my nightstand (not the wagon) and I will be reading it over and over.

Blogger is NOT allowing me to post pix tonite -VERY ANNOYING!!!!! I will try revising this post tomorrow -with pictures!!!

My Book Arrived!!!

Remember a couple of posts ago ? I mentioned my brother went to Angela Cartwright's book signing?
Well, my book arrived yesterday!!!
Woohoo!!!

It's a great book - very inspirational - with great art, quotes, and

gardening info throughout!

There were also 2 bookmarks, with AC's art on the front and all her info on the back. Even the bag from Zinnia's, the shop where the book signing was held, is great!!!
Thanks again, dear brother..........................

I Have a Wonderful Brother!!

A couple of months ago, my brother and I were talking "blogs" and among other things, Angela Cartwright's name came up. Partly because I follow her blog, partly because my brother has been a fan, and lives not too far from her neck of the woods.

Brother mentioned that he thought AC would be at a book signing near his home, and if he could, he would try to go.
Well, the whole family went, he bought me her latest book, she signed it, and graciously posed for a picture with my family!

Can you tell by my beaming brother, that he is standing by his childhood dream girl? Lost in Space, 4-eva!!!!The woman on his right is his grown up dream girl- his lovely wife!
Did I mention that I have a wonderful brother??? Can't wait to see this book!!!

(You can click on Angela's name to read her blog, and Brother to read his.)

The Shadow Knows..........

A tip of the hat to Angela Cartwright for giving me the idea for my new default pic!

We have all taken shadow pictures at one time or another- I know I always have. But Angela has taken shadows and made them an art form. Be sure to check out her site-

I vaguely remember a childhood chant- 'i have a little shadow, he goes in and out with me, and what can be the use of him, is more than i can see.....'

Anyway, this one shows me in standard pose - camera in hand!!!!
