Got my Fabric!!

Someone on Facebook mentioned an online company that prints your own designs on fabric- http://www.spoonflower.com

Of course, I had to check it out and used a photo of mine for the design. I only got a fat quarter of fabric - just to see how it would turn out.
I was in my car one morning and was admiring the frost designs on my windshield, and took a picture of the frosted glass with the sky above. I arranged this picture in a repeat pattern, and sent in the order.

My fabric came very quickly, nicely wrapped in tissue.

I love it!! - and am going to get another yard with one of my own designs. Now I know how Pat Sloan feels!!!

Now, what to do with this piece of fabric!!!!

  1. OH MY GOSH Pat, your photo fabric is beautiful! You must be SO pleased, it really is dreamy and all the more special because YOU designed it! Have you decided what you'll do with it...I would imagine you'll want to just admire it for long while :)

  3. Oh I love it, waaaay cool! I bet it will be hard to cut up, I know it would be for me. I would use it for a wintery applique background. Then I would order more yardage for a big quilt back, just to be able to admire more of it.

  5. I would love to be able to design for resale ( a la pat sloan - LOL) but the fabric is a bit too pricey for other than personal use. $11 for a fat quarter and $18 for a yard. But it is nice to be able to use your own designs in your own projects!!!!

  6. First, your fabric is beautiful. Also, a North Carolina company not far from me. So yeah. However, there was a discussion about this on one of the yahoo groups about how they can use your fabric - design if they want without permission they retain copyright. I am not sure about particulars, but it is worth checking out. Just a heads up. Like I said I am not well versed in this companies policies. If you do find out please let us know. I have been too chicken to have any made.
